Opening of Valley of Flowers after the floods. When will the Valley of Flowers open in 2015 ?
Times of India reported that the floods washed off an important bridge on trek between Ghangaria and Valley of Flowers. That is all right but the accessibility to Valley of Flowers was lost not due to this bridge but due to heavy damage to trek after the bridge. The forest department has made a make shift bridge in September 2013 itself and is still ok. The big iron bridge was completed by July end 2014. In the following pictures you can see both the bridges.

The old trek was so damaged that the new cannot be laid from the same area and has to be rerouted. The new route is going through the forest area and lot of formalities had to be done and the forest department got the fund in first week of September, 2014. By second week of September the work was given to some 10 local contractors. They are making the trek of 200 meters each. The new trek is almost a kilometer longer than the old one and little bit tough also. The Valley of Flowers will be accessible by October 2014 but officially it will open in 2015 session only. But will open for sure.
On river Alaknanda at Govindghat a new big motor-able bridge is made which is ready as of now but the picture was taken on 5th September, 2014.
So finally you can plan for a trip to Valley of Flowers in 2015 start onwards. Valley of Flowers opens from 1st June every year so you can expect to open the valley from June 1st, 2015.
